StKCJFC secures Commonwealth Government grant for lighting upgrade at Wattie Watson

The Committee of StKCJFC wishes to advise our members that the Club has been successful in securing a grant from the Commonwealth Government to upgrade the lighting infrastructure at Wattie Watson Oval.

The total grant is for $340,000 and is fully committed as part of the Government’s budget. The City of Port Phillip Council will also be providing funding for the associated power upgrade of Wattie Watson Oval.

The project will begin planning phase during this season and it is hoped the new lights will be operational for the 2020 season.

The lighting upgrade will provide significant benefits for the Club and our members. In particular, we will be able to utilise Wattie Watson more effectively for training and provide a safer environment for our girls and boys. There is also the potential for holding night games in the future which will be a fantastic opportunity for StKCJFC.

The lighting upgrade is one of a number of infrastructure projects targeted by the Committee in line with our 3 year Strategic Plan released last year. The other proposed projects include the new electronic scoreboard and an upgrade to the change rooms to cater for our growth in girl’s football.
